16 October 2014, 7:30pm, Park Conservative Club, City Road
My first event of the festival, TEAM Performance Party, was not at all what I expected, but it certainly was fun!
Arriving upstairs at the Park Conservatives
Club, we were handed bingo cards (all my squares read ‘38’) and told to
sit at any of the tables.  I opted for strongbow and black, to fit in with the bingo and the fruit machine in the corner.
We started with a round of musical bingo
(“twenty-two-hooo, shoo-bop!”) to determine our groups, then
the audience split and we were led into various room.  In
each room waited a colourful character; these included inept host and
lookalike-talent-agent Ben, Scott “the General” from Maesteg, and
gossipy new TEAM member Christie.  These characters each
explained a different aspect of NTW TEAM, in a fun, engaging way, and
encouraged us to consider what events and workshops our community might
need.
The night ended with a rousing rendition of
Rolling on the River, and lashings of crisps and jammy dodgers, piled
high on party plates by the bar.  Overall, a fun evening, and great for
anyone with an interest in the arts who might be looking for community
support, training or just a good old chinwag.
